I recently started to seriously get into reading manga and I’m so happy that I have discovered a new form of reading to enjoy! It was brought to my attention by the lovely Patty over at Simply Patty, that there was a manga read-a-thon coming up! THE TBR

Without further ado, here is my slightly ambitious TBR consisting of mostly sequels that I have been neglecting for way too long!

Akira Vol.1 by Katsuhiro Otomo

The science fiction tale set in 2019 in Tokyo after the city was destroyed by World War III, follows the lives of two teenage friends, Tetsuo and Kaneda, who have a consuming fear of a monstrous power known as Akira.

Death Note Vol.2 by Tsugumi Ohba

Light Yagami is an ace student with great prospects–and he’s bored out of his mind. But all that changes when he finds the Death Note, a notebook dropped by a rogue Shinigami death god. Any human whose name is written in the notebook dies, and now Light has vowed to use the power of the Death Note to rid the world of evil. Will Light’s noble goal succeed, or will the Death Note turn him into the very thing he fights against?

Your Name Vol.2 by Makoto Shinkai

The second installment of the manga adaptation of the film that took the world by storm!

Solanin by Inio Asano

Meiko Inoue is a recent college grad working as an office lady in a job she hates. Her boyfriend Naruo is permanently crashing at her apartment because his job as a freelance illustrator doesn’t pay enough for rent. And her parents in the country keep sending her boxes of veggies that just rot in her fridge. Straddling the line between her years as a student and the rest of her life, Meiko struggles with the feeling that she’s just not cut out to be a part of the real world.

Goodnight Punpun Vol.3 by Inio Asano

Meet Punpun Punyama. He’s an average kid in an average town. He wants to win a Nobel Prize and save the world. He wants to go far away with his true love. He wants to find some porn. But Punpun’s life is about to unravel…

Tokyo Ghoul Vol.6 by Sui Ishida

Ghouls live among us, the same as normal people in every way—except their craving for human flesh. Ken Kaneki is an ordinary college student until a violent encounter turns him into the first half-human half-ghoul hybrid. Trapped between two worlds, he must survive Ghoul turf wars, learn more about Ghoul society and master his new powers. Things heat up in the Ward Eleven as the CCG investigates the high rate of Investigator deaths. Kaneki has an explosive run-in with Aogiri Tree, the Ghoul Gang, run by a Ghoul known only as the Sekigan King.

A Silent Voice Vol.2 by Yoshitoki Oima

It’s been five years since Shoya Ishida bullied Shoko Nishimiya so badly she left their elementary school, because of one simple difference between them: Shoya can hear, and Shoko can’t. In the intervening time, Shoya’s life has changed completely. Shunned by his friends, Shoya’s longed for the chance to make up for his cruelty. When it finally comes, will he find the voice to tell Shoko he’s changed? And will Shoko listen?

Psycho-pass Vol.2 by Midori Gotou

The manga prequel to the acclaimed anime series! The Psycho-Pass made a better future society possible: a universal fitness app that tracks people’s emotional health. But when crime becomes rare, it also becomes stranger and more dangerous than ever…and in the 22nd century the only “safe” job for a person on the borderline is as a cop–kept on a virtual leash as they hunt down the criminals they may soon become themselves! Kogami’s team has learned that the hospital where patients have died due to a genetic timer set in them decades ago was a “privileged” residence for the emotionally unfit. In searching for clues, they discover just how their society perfected itself by pushing things into the shadows…and the underground network dedicated to keeping those things alive!

The Kurosagi Corpse Delivery Service, Omnibus Vol.1

Five spiritualist students at a Buddhist college in Japan realize the job market is tough these days . . . among the living, that is! But the dead need jobs done too, so the five form the Kurosagi Corpse Delivery Service, carrying out the last wishes of their cadaverous clients, so their souls can move on. But the Kurosagi gang are magnets for weirdness—not just corpses—and every case gets them involved in disturbing personal obsessions, bizarre modern Tokyo fads, and strange rituals of old Japan! Collects The Kurosagi Corpse Delivery Service Volumes 1–3.

There you have it! My TBR for the Manga Madness Read-A-Thon is now set in stone! Is it ambitious? Maybe slightly, but I’m so excited to finally pick up some sequels that I’ve been neglecting, as well as starting a few new series!

Thank you for reading!
